Expansion of the Azalea Day Club service

Due to the ongoing success and increasing demand for our Azalea Day Club service we are opening a new club at St Oswald’s Village in Gloucester.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Extra Care Charitable Trust at St Oswald’s, who have offered us use of their spacious Edward Jenner Suite on site to start a new club every Wednesday.

Across the county we are currently providing this service to over 60 people per week.  Our Azalea Day Clubs offer people the opportunity to enjoy a day out of the home, in a warm, safe, fun and friendly environment for the day where they will enjoy a range of wonderful activities on offer.  The current age range is 44 – 92 years old, bringing people together for conversation, fun and laughter, where friendships are formed, helping to reduce social isolation that so many people sadly experience.

Lunch is an important part of the day and at St Oswald’s, everyone will enjoy lunch in the restaurant.  Our fully trained staff are able to support each and every one of our Day Club friends with all aspects of care and support, including personal care when required.

Activities are varied at all our clubs and are adapted to suit individual’s needs and abilities and have recently included team bowling,  watercolour painting, gentle seated exercise, singing, and arts and craft.  We are extremely grateful to Mindsong who often visit our clubs delivering music therapy.  Singing is such a powerful activity and makes everyone feel included and stimulates lots of reminiscence.

The introduction of the OMI sensory projector which we purchased through funding also provides individuals with calming and distracting activities and exercise as well as bringing groups of people together for games, competitive fun and laughter.

If you are interested, or care for a loved one who would benefit from this service please contact Claire on 01452 302542
